William F. Morneau

Canada's 39th Minister of Finance

Mr. Morneau served as Canada’s 39th Minister of Finance from 2015 to 2020 and played the key role in the development and execution of Canadian economic policy. He also served as a Governor at the International Monetary Fund and at the World Bank. Between 1990 and 2015, Mr. Morneau led the multinational human resources firm Morneau Shepell and built it into the largest Canadian human resources services provider, completing numerous acquisitions and taking the firm public on the Toronto Stock Exchange. He previously served as chair of St. Michael’s Hospital, Covenant House and the C.D. Howe Institute. He holds a BA from Western University, an MSc (Economics) from the London School of Economics and an MBA from INSEAD.
